DISAPPEARING ACTS are curated weekends of experimental performances, snippets and workshop pieces presented in different locations around New Orleans. These events highlight performers honing their craft along a designated theme.

DISAPPEARING ACTS tallies its third installment on the last weekend of September with "LAST GASP", four daring multi-media performance pieces inspired by breath or lack thereof.
Featured Artists:

Local Honey
Lips parsed, the queen's breath exhales: a communication between planes guided by the tongue. A symphony of tragic divinity, her only truth.

Nicole Gruter
Stemming from Gruter's trilogy Sex Offender, Magic Girl invokes the milestone of first intercourse, venerating an often less than magical experience.
Gruter brings to the stage a blend of Mae West meets Phyllis Diller with work that is raucous, honest, and disarmingly suggestive.

Saiya Miller
Saiya is a New Orleans based creator of music and mixed media art. Her live projection screen and accompanying soundtrack is the latest development in a series involving comics displayed in non-traditional ways.

Lauren Hind
Lauren Hind is an image maker drawing on the wisdom and strength of the women in her family. She lives and loves between the rivers and bayous of Louisiana. Her work explores her experiences of struggle, faith, and redemption. In this piece, Lauren explores: “We ride the breath in its waves of ecstasy and its torturous tides. In our Last Gasp, we discover the ability to sink and swim, finding air and the space to breathe in the most unlikely of places.”
