Our Mission
The Black Forest Ensemble is a non-profit organization and an installation,
large scale carnival and parade arts, puppet and musical theater
collective. Our work explores history and human interaction through the
lens of allegory and carnival, waging a fantastic and morbidly serious
battle for alternative modes of being from the realm of the possessed and
dispossessed. The Black Forest Ensemble lifts tales of mistake, misfortune
and the misbegotten from history to shine light on the folly of the future.
Our celebratory parades and gigantic installations explore flux, pathology
and collectivity across time. We invoke global mystery and study the
paradigm of depravity and realism. Aesthetic reverberations from the
computer era are infused with classical architecture. As a non-profit, the
organization serves to enhance the local arts community of New Orleans and
enrich this community through the creation of residencies and
collaborations abroad. "The Black Forest Fancies Incorporated"
acts as an umbrella to individual artists and groups seeking grants for
artistic endeavors, tours, equipment, venues and residences.
